As climate change intensifies and natural resources shrink, small and marginal women farmers are among the hardest hit. Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) offers them a sustainable way forward. Techniques such as rainwater harvesting, organic inputs, and cultivation of resilient crops not only safeguard harvests but also help maintain nutrition and income stability. CSA enhances productivity even on small plots and cuts dependence on costly, harmful chemicals—equipping women with knowledge, confidence, and resilience to withstand climate uncertainties.
We promote Climate-Smart Agriculture by placing women at the center of sustainable farming. A key focus is recognizing them as primary cultivators and environmental stewards. Our farmer-led model, facilitated by Krushi Sakhis—trained women farmers—creates peer networks that deliver practical support on water efficiency, soil health, organic practices, and cost-effective farming techniques that are adaptive to climate stress.
Our multi-level interventions promote climate-smart agriculture among women farmers. They address three core areas:
Empowering women farmers through identity and knowledge
Facilitating access to resources
Building market linkages and economic sustainability
